Stefan Schauer

Senior Scientist and Thematic Coordinator of the Dependable Systems Engineering

Stefan Schauer is Senior Scientist andThematic Coordinator of the Dependable Systems Engineering group at theAustrian Institute of Technology (AIT). He is an experienced researcher in the fields of risk, resilience and security and his research mainly lies on the protection of critical infrastructures, focusing on risk and security assessment and to improve the resilience of these infrastructures. In this context, he is looking into mathematical concepts for the identification and handling of cascading effects within an organization and among critical infrastructures on a national scale. The goal is to seamlessly integrate these cascading effects into novel risk and resilience assessment methodologies and processes for critical infrastructures.

 

With numerous publications and presentations in several journals and conferences in the field, Stefan Schauer is well-established in the scientific community and long-time contributor to the ESREL conference series. He is also active in the European funding environment and has been involved in the core group of the Horizon Europe project SUNRISE as well as of the H2020 projects PRAETORIAN and PRECINCT.
