Daniel Straub

Professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM)

Daniel Straub is a professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), specializing in risk and reliability analysis for engineering systems (www.cee.ed.tum.de/era). His research focuses on physics-based and data-driven models and methods for sequential decision-making under uncertainty. He earned his civil engineering degree in 2000 and his PhD in 2004 from ETH Zürich. He then held research and teaching positions at the University of California, Berkeley, before joining TUM in 2008. Prof. Straub serves on the boards of multiple professiona organizations and editorial boards and is co-founder of two consulting companies. Among other recognitions, he received the 2023 C. Allen Cornell Award, which is presented every four years by the Civil Engineering Risk and Reliability Association to honor outstanding achievements.
